Omnicomm manufactures several kinds of highly accurate fuel level sensors. The sensors are based on the capacitive method of fuel level measurement. The length of a sensor can vary from 20 cm up to 6 meters. It can be adapted to the fuel tank’s depth by cutting the excess length. The sensor’s accuracy is 99.2%, which is sufficient for accurate measurement of fuel. The operating temperature ranges from - 60 to + 85%. The longevity of the installation and calibration of the sensor depends on the size of the tank.

 


 

How does it work?

Omnicomm LLS Fuel Level Sensor is designed to measure fuel level in the vehicle’s fuel tank and fuel storage tanks. The sensor is connected to any AVL-device reporting the measured fuel value. It is also possible to monitor and control fuel data using special software which allows you to create different reports on transport fuel consumption, as well as notify in case of violations.
 

Why is a Fuel Level Sensor better than any other fuel monitoring solution?

There are currently several ways to monitor fuel consumption; however each of them has its drawbacks. For example, a standard floater does not have a high level of accuracy, while a CAN-bus has the so-called “dead zone” where the inaccuracy can reach up to 100 liters. Such methods of control as fuel consumption rates, set by manufacturer or the company using equipment itself, are unfortunately, imprecise as well. Consumption rates are usually inflated and, moreover, they do not consider the vehicle load, the driving style and the road quality.
